Colours
Colours are used to create the artwork that’s printed onto the label. There are two ways we can print the colours; as special PMS colours or in process colours. These are explained below, and we’d be happy to discuss this further with you as part of an expert consultation.
Colours Examples
Special PMS Colours
Special PMS colours are a worldwide standard controlled by Pantone Corporation. Each year Pantone produce a printed guide of each “Pantone Colour” that has a colour swatch and ink formulation for each of the 1,867 colours on coated and uncoated stocks. These swatches are used so all stages in the packaging process are matched to a calibrated standard. This ensures that your brand colours will be consistently and accurately printed across all packaging and printed materials.
Process Colours
Process colours are the standard set of colours used to create photographic images or colours without the need to use special PMS colours. Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black are the industry standard set of colours. By printing varying amounts of each colour by using different size dots that are under 0.25mm in diameter you can create vibrant and detailed photographic images.
Special PMS Colours can also be replicated using the process colours via the same method. As the colour is made from four colours and not one special colour, the result can sometimes not be as bright and vibrant.
